Division Business Meeting,

1. Welcome and Introduction

IM Division Chair Nandini Lahiri welcomed all members participating in the business meeting in Copenhagen. She introduced the EC members for 2024–2025: PDW Chair (Srividya Jandhyala), Program Chair (Ilya Cuypers), Division Chair-elect (Klaus Meyer), and Immediate Past Division Chair (Grazia Santangelo). She then presented the agenda for the meeting.

2. Housekeeping – minutes of 2024 business meeting

The Division Chair summarized the minutes of the 2024 business meeting that had been posted on the IM Division website. The Division Chair asked for approval of the minutes of the 2024 business meeting. The motion passed.

3. Appreciation for IM Service

The Division Chair expressed appreciation to the EC and thanked the IM Division Committee Chairs and other members for their service. Committee activities included Teaching, Research, Membership, Doctoral Student, and Communications. Special thanks were extended to all committee members for their contributions.

4. Sponsor Recognition

The Division Chair thanked the IM Division’s sponsors for their significant contributions to the division’s awards. Sponsors included Amorepacific, FIU, USC, CEIBS, HKUST, Georgetown, Hyundai, Indiana University (a new sponsor), GWU, and Georgetown University.

5. Division Membership

The Division Chair reported that the number of members increased to 2,017 in 2025, up from 1,960 in 2024. There were 394 student members in 2025, up from 372 in 2024. Registration reached 1,011 (50.1% of members). The Division Chair presented an overview of member registration trends, highlighting the geographic distribution of IM Division members and comparing these patterns with overall AOM membership statistics.

6. Treasurer’s Report 2024–2025

The Division Treasurer reported that the operating funds for 2025 were $380,406, up from $323,371 in 2024. The 2025 allocation was $29,910. Sponsors pledged $50,000 for 2025.

7. Teaching Committee Report 

Teaching Committee Chair Carl Fey reported on the committee’s initiatives and expressed appreciation to outgoing members. The committee produced several “How to Teach Topic X in IB” writeups and is developing a video series on writing teaching cases. Plans for 2025–2026 were discussed.

8. PDW Chair Report

PDW Chair Srividya Jandhyala reported that 16 PDWs and 3 consortia were accepted. Popular topics included Geopolitics, CSR, AI, Global Strategy, and Teaching in IB. PDW Chair highlighted a few sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She highlighted IM Division social—the Copenhagen Canal Cruise on July 25 (preregistration required), co-organized with OB Division.

9. Program Chair Report

Program Chair Ilya Cuypers reported 533 program submissions, a 33% increase from the previous year. The acceptance rate was 50%. The program included 3 showcase symposia. The Program Chair introduced a new submission format—poster presentations—which achieved a 77% acceptance rate in its inaugural year. The Program Chair presented detailed program statistics, highlighting acceptance rates across years, methodological approaches, and emerging thematic trends within the division’s submission. The Program chair thanked Symposium Reviewers, Award Shortlist Team, and Emergency Review Team. The Program Chair also outlined the overall program structure, highlighting key elements such as the plenary session, recognition and social events, award sessions, and showcase symposia.

10. Professional Awards and Recognition

Immediate Past Division Chair Grazia Santangelo presented the professional awards. Multiple awards were presented, including Hyundai Motor Eminent Scholar. The award-winning panelists will discuss how IM scholars can best engage with these new realities from the perspectives of research, teaching and service.

11. Research Methods Committee

Research Methods Committee chair Noman Shaheer could not make it to the meeting. Committee member Liang Chen presented recent online research methods events, conference-based activities, and outlined future plans. The committee’s collaboration with AIB was highlighted to expand outreach and enhance global engagement.

12. Research Award Committee

Research Award Committee Chair Stephanie Wang outlined the rigorous selection process for eight best paper awards, expressing appreciation for the support of the six award sponsors. She acknowledged the diverse committee members representing various global regions and highlighted the inclusion of two post-hoc reviewers who contributed to the evaluation process. IM Division Best Dissertation Award Chair Joao Albino-Pimentel shared the selection process for the award and introduced a new initiative featuring interviews to enhance visibility and engagement.

13. Doctoral Student Committee 

Doctoral student committee chair Afshin Hamrabadi presented events tailored to PhD students and highlighted a well-received webinar the committee hosted. Looking ahead, the committee is planning two webinars focused on enhancing research and writing skills. 

14. IM Scholarship and Engagement

Scholarship and Engagement Committee Chair Sorin Krammer highlighted the Gala Reception on July 28 at the Bella Center. Sorin presented the committee’s recruitment efforts through participation in the New Doctoral Student Consortium, and webinars featuring dissertation award finalists and guidance on reviewing for AOM. He presented that social media engagement included 613 LinkedIn followers and over 20,000 impressions. the committee plans to continue these efforts and expand outreach through webinars and student engagement.

15. Future AOM Conferences

The Division Chair presented the EC members for 2025-2026. She thanked the Immediate Past Division Chair Grazia Santangelo for her outstanding contributions and leadership over the past years.

The chair shared the dates and locations of upcoming conferences:
- 2026: Philadelphia (July 31–Aug 4)
- 2027: Seattle (Aug 6–10)
- 2028: Toronto (Aug 4–8)
