Two senior professorships to be filled at Kühne Logistics University (KLU)

    1.    Associate/Full professorship in Human Resource Management

    2.    Dean of Research (at rank of full professorship in any field of business research)

Starting date for both is September 2015 (or later)

Kühne Logistics University (KLU), named after its founder and donor, Klaus-Michael Kane, is a private, independent, international, and state-recognized business school. With a strong emphasis on logistics, supply chain management, and general management in research and education, KLU has a young faculty that is being expanded by several new appointments every year with the intent to build up a strong international reputation in research and teaching. KLU is located in the HafenCity, the heart of Hamburg, one of Europe's most vibrant cities. It achieved top rankings in research and teaching among German-speaking business faculties.

For HRM Professorship: Candidates should combine a strong research record and an understanding of relevant practical problems with inspiring teaching and the willingness to contribute to institution building. We are seeking experienced, talented, and highly motivated professors with a proven record of internationally recognized research and industry collaboration. Experience in obtaining research funds from government, state-funding institutions, and industry sources would be helpful. Depending on the experience and academic record of the applicant, the position may be filled at a full professor or tenure track associate professor level.

KLU will offer an internationally competitive salary (110,000-165,000 Euro), teaching commitment (150 academic hours per year), annual research budget (20,000 Euro), and administrative support. In addition, KLU will contribute generously to an approved superannuation scheme.

Applicants are invited to send their application, along with the usual documents (covering letter, CV with main areas of academic interest, complete list of publications and of courses taught, evidence of pedagogical training, and most recent teaching evaluations) by March 13, 2015 to:  Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Sönke Albers, Dean of Research Kühne Logistics University Grosser Grasbrook 17 20457 Hamburg Germany, dean.research@the-klu.org

    Kane Logistics University, Hamburg

For Dean of Research: The Dean of Research is responsible for building, shaping and developing the university's academic profile in close collaboration with the President and the Academic Senate. The Dean of Research is appointed by the contracting body for five years. To qualify for the position, the candidate must also be appointed as a Full Professor at KLU (and thus be accordingly qualified) and have experience in successfully managing large organizational units. More than one term is permitted. Candidates can come from any field within business administration and should combine a strong research record (also with respect to the FT Journal List), an understanding of relevant practical problems, and the drive to move KLU forward in its high academic profile. Experience in obtaining research funds from government, state funding institutions, or industry is highly desirable. The Dean of Research has a small teaching workload of 50 academic hours per year at KLU.

KLU will offer an internationally competitive salary (above what is specified above), an annual research budget, and administrative support. In addition, KLU will contribute generously to an approved superannuation scheme.

Applicants are invited to send their application, along with the usual documents (covering letter, CV with experience in managing university units, complete list of publications, and of courses taught) by April 1, 2015 to: Professor Thomas Strothotte, President, Kühne Logistics University, Grosser Grasbrook 17, 20457 Hamburg, Germany, president@the-klu.org
