  • 1.  Good textbooks for an Intl. HR/OB course?

    Posted 02-16-2012 09:55

    Dear Colleagues,

Can anyone suggest a good textbook for an undergraduate International Management course, something that revolves around International HR/OB?

It'd be nice if in addition to the usual topics it also had a chapter (or perhaps you could suggest a separate text/article) that deals with legal and other issues of employing and managing immigrants, as well as working overseas (not only expatriate management perspective, but also you taking a job overseas, what will be the issues you'll have to deal with, from legal to cultural)?

Links to any other resources that could be used in an International Management course would be also much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Vas

    Hi Vas,
I think the "International Management: Culture, Strategy, and Behavior" text by Luthans & Doh is very good.  It has great cases in it – some fairly in depth cases – and is well rounded in HR, OB and Strategy in an international context.

    Hello, Vasyl,

Some textbooks I like that cover both international OB and HR issues are:
    • Francesco & Gold's International Organizational Behavior published by Pearson
    • Adler's International Dimensions of Organizational Behavior published by Thomson South-western
    • Punnett's International Perspectives on Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management published by Sharpe.
    Good luck!

    Best regards,
       Davina
