Abstract
The changing global landscape and an increasingly interdependent global workforce spur a growing consensus that "the rest of the world matters" (Workforce 2020) more than ever, requiring more preparation for global work. Business schools are doing their part by placing greater emphasis on teaching and assessing global skills. This PDW brings together faculty with extensive research and teaching experience in cross-cultural and international management to share and exchange expertise with participants.
The workshop's purpose is threefold: 1) identify caveats, challenges, and best practices; 2) provide an introduction to basic teaching models and frameworks; and 3) explain or demonstrate effective teaching methodologies based on core philosophical elements. Panel members will set the stage by highlighting the models in a resource handout that will serve as themes throughout the workshop. The first presentation discusses solutions to the challenges of working with different audiences (nationality, multicultural composition, and at different educational levels) while the next three presentations explain different experiential methodologies. In the teaching demonstration that follows, participants take part in an interactive video test demonstration to test their expertise. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience.
We are looking forward to seeing you in San Antonio!
Jacob
