The following paper is a comparison of India and the US in job stress.

comparison of job stressors and reactions among employees holding
comparable jobs in two countries. International Journal of Stress

    Dear Sumit,

    I could suggest the following:

    (1) Silvio Napoli at Schindler India (A) and (B). This is a Harvard Business School case that is relevant for strategy implementation in the Indian evironment, cross cultural management etc. It is not strictly an India- US case as it deals with a Swiss company but I would suggest that it highlights key differences between the Western and the Indian approach to management. It is a popular case and it works well

    (2) J.B. P. Sinha (2004). Multinationals in India: Managing the interface of cultures. Sage. The book has some excellent case studies about foreign multinationals in India. The cases are heavily focused on cultural differences and cover a variety of multinationals both from the West and Asia

    (3) R. Sethi & A. Sethi (2005). Doing business in India: Palgrave Macmillan. In our book (among other things) we focus on some of the cross cultural gap that exists between Western and the Indian management style. The book is written from the perspective of a Western manager

    (4) R. Gupta (2002). High Tech International. Asian Case Research Journal (I am sorry- I don't have the exact citation). The case revolves around an Indo-US joint venture and the challenges it faces in creating a new culture. This is also a rather insightful case.

    (5) Enco International. This is a negotiation case that can be obtained from Program on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School. Although the case is based on Enron's failed infrastructural project in India, it has broader relevance for the development of infrastructural projects in India and the management of business- government relations.

    Hope this helps
    Rajesh

    Sumit,

I've used the movie "Outsourced" (2007) successfully. There are also two documentaries I like: "Thomas Friedman Reporting - The Other Side of Outsourcing (2004)" and "Out of India" (2004; segment from CBS' "60 Minutes"). The movie "Slumdog Millionaire (2008) might also work well. For British/Indian differences, you may want to consider the movie "Bend It Like Beckham" (2002). Showing students excerpts from a typical Bollywood movie may also help trigger a good discussion about cultural differences from an American audience.

    Happy watching!

You could read the chapters on the USA and India in the GLOBE 2007 book edited by Chhokar et al.
