We want to welcome you to the UWI Department of Management Studies' 3rd Annual International Management Conference 2008.
This year's exciting and provocative theme is "Effective Management Strategies for Developing Countries". This is a topic of relevance to people from countries around the world. More and more, developing world companies are moving into developed countries, and those from developed countries are seeking opportunities in developing ones. It is timely for a conference that addresses the specifics of effective management in developing countries, and how this is similar to, or different from, management elsewhere.
We invite you to join us in the beautiful island country of <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Barbados</st1:place></st1:country-region>, itself a developing country. This venue gives participants the opportunity to explore the reality of management in the <st1:place w:st="on">Caribbean</st1:place>, while enjoying the sun and sea, in the stimulating environment of a rigorous academic debate.
Researchers and practitioners will find the conference papers and presentations provide insights drawn from academic research as well as practical experience. We believe all participants will benefit from these insights. This conference will move forward our understanding of effective management in developing countries.
