Call for nominations to the Conflict Management (CM) Division Doctoral Consortium.
The CM Doctoral consortium includes a Friday evening social (August 6th) and an all day session Saturday (August 7th) at the 2010 Academy of Management meetings in Montreal, Canada. All candidates MUST be nominated by a faculty member. It will NOT be possible to allow any "walk-ins" at the consortium. THERE IS NO FEE for participation.
Our goal is to help PhD students pursue research programs that will contribute to the field and lead to tenure as they build a successful academic career. The format includes presentations by successful CM scholars then one-on-one interactions and small group discussion. Consortium participants will discuss useful strategies to enhance research productivity and professional advancement. Participating faculty include Tina Diekmann (University of Utah), Peter Kim (University of Southern California), Keith Murnighan (Northwestern University), Maggie Neale (Stanford University), Greg Northcraft (University of Illinois), Randall Peterson (London Business School), Linda Putnam (University of California, Santa Barbara), Harris Sondak (University of Utah), Ann Tenbrunsel (Notre Dame University), Cathy Tinsley (Georgetown University), Gerben Van Kleef (University of Amsterdam), Mark Weber (University of Toronto), and Laurie Weingart (Carnegie Mellon University).
Who should apply?: Any doctoral student may attend who is a member of the Conflict Management Division or is specializing in topics within the domain statement of CM. They must not have attended a previous CM doctoral consortium. Students should have finished approximately two years of their PhD program. They do not need to have completed their dissertation proposal--only to have chosen a specialization area.
Pre-registration is required by June 30th. Please send an email expressing your interest and providing a brief statement of your research interests. This information will be used to facilitate matching with faculty mentors. Students are also required to have a faculty member send a nomination (via email) on their behalf. Nominations by faculty must also be completed by June 30, 2010.
Contact CM Doctoral Consortium organizer and PDW Chair Zoe Barsness, (zib@uw.edu) for nominations and information.
