There are several models. Here I will refer to earlier model (that is not specific on international and organizational culture dimensions AND a recent model that EXTENDS the earlier model into a three-dimensional model about the role of acquirer's preferences for integration, based on his own culture, as you indicated below.
The earlier model is in Nahavandi and Malekzadeh, 1988 AMR, focus on acculturation.
The extension of the earlier model (and other models) that includes, list of propositions and tables (based on the above three dimensional model, is in Weber, Tarba and Reichal, forthcoming in International Studies of Management and Organization (If it is interesting to you, I can send you the paper).
One more empirical paper, with international differences between acquirers, in the way they implement the integration, and behavioral effects on M&A performance can be found in Weber, Rachman-Mor, and Tarba, forthcoming, in International Journal of Cross Cultural Management (I can send this too)
All the best,
Yaakov

Subject: Needed: Culture and biz acquisitions model
During the late 1990s, I came across an international management model dealing with cultural strategies in business acquisitions. The model addressed different ways for the dominant, acquiring company to integrate the acquired subsidiary into its corporation. Although dealing with strategic matters, it had an OB/interaction flavor to it – if I remember right.
It was a classic 2 x 2 box structure, and one of the categories was Assimilation – the acquirer simply imposed its home culture on the new subsidiary.
Does this model sound familiar to anyone? A student is doing research on separation acquisitions, and I believe this phantom model would be useful as a conceptual background. Also, usage of the model might link us to a research stream on the topic.
If anyone can help on this, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, JPO
