    PhD position in Social Entrepreneurship

    The organisation
The Faculté de Sciences Economiques et de Gestion (FSEG) is a faculty of the Catholic University of Lille, a private higher education and research association. With a view to further developing its Research Centre on Human Capital (CRCH, member of the Laboratoire Lille - Economie – Management (LEM), UMR 8179 CNRS), FSEG is recruiting a PhD student. This post is co-financed by Lille Métropole for 3 years.

    Research
The candidate is expected to complete a doctoral dissertation in 3 years. This PhD fits in the project “Building Human Capital: A comparative study of management practices in social enterprises in the Lille metropolitan area (France) and Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole (South Africa)”. The project aims to compare management practices in organisations in the social economy in both metropolitan areas. More specifically, it aims to analyse and understand how values, beliefs and attitudes of social entrepreneurs interact with the demands and prescriptions of “traditional” management and how this leads to the emergence of hybrid ways of managing that creatively combine and rework management ideas and practices with different underlying institutional logics.

    Profile
    The ideal candidate
    • holds a Master degree in Management or Economics, or any related areas (e.g., sociology or anthropology of organisations) or is (proven) close to completion
    • has a good knowledge of English and French
    • has an outstanding methodological knowledge that contributes to the research within the department and to education
    • has an active interest in the social economy and organisations in the social economy

    Job description
In addition to her/his doctoral research, the ideal candidate may be asked to contribute to the further development of the undergraduate and graduate programmes. She/he will have a reasonable teaching load (both lectures and seminars). She/he supervises master dissertations and contributes to the academic life of the faculty and the research team. The ideal candidate is expected to publish in top-tier peer reviewed journals in accordance with the criteria set by AERES.

    Application
The candidate needs to submit (1) his/her curriculum vitae, (2) a letter of motivation, (3) two letters of recommendation.

Additional information can be obtained from Dr. Frederik Claeyé (frederik.claeye@icl-lille.fr).

Please send your application to Professor Nicolas Vaillant, nicolas.vaillant@univ-catholille.fr, or Dr. Frederik Claeyé, frederik.claeye@icl-lille.fr, as soon as possible.
