Exploring Meaningful Solutions to Business Talent Challenges: Conversations with Management Guests.
Business Talent Challenges
Organizer: Karin A. King; London School of Economics; Facilitator: David G Collings; Dublin City U.; Facilitator: Paul Sparrow; Lancaster U.; Facilitator: Patrick M. Wright; U. of South Carolina; Facilitator: Gary M. Power; Dublin City U.; Facilitator: Vlad Vaiman; California Lutheran U.; Presenter: Primo Custodio; Comcast NBC Universal (ret.);
This professional development workshop (PDW) follows the successful 2015 Academy Showcase Symposium "Value Through Talent Management" (IM and HR sponsored) which considered research findings which shed light on how talent management drives value for organisations and generated strong attendance and engaging discussion. We aim to continue the conversation this year in this follow up professional development workshop (PDW) which now directs its specific focus to the practical talent challenges management faces currently in their efforts to create and manage the value expected through talent management. The 2016 talent PDW will bring together experienced academics and executive management guests for collaborative discussions which span both research and practice in search of insights which contribute to addressing current business talent issues and/or future research directions. Executive guests will present a case overview of their business priorities and the associated talent challenges they face, followed by round-table discussions. The small group discussions with management guests will be focused specifically on their presented organisation's business talent priorities. The aim of the PDW is to engage researchers and practitioners together in a joint management practitioner-academic discussion of current talent challenges to consider how research can assist in exploring and addressing these business management issues. The central theme for exploration in this PDW is: Business talent priorities and challenges: Exploring meaningful solutions through research and practice.
Pre-registration is required for this workshop. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. Please contact the workshop organizer at k.a.king@lse.ac.uk to obtain the approval code. The deadline to register online is July 15, 2016.
We look forward to seeing you in Anaheim!
