  • 1.  Survey on Understanding and Benchmarking Post Graduate Research (PGR) Programmes

    All ... please excuse the cross postings.  We are following up on a prior study that looked at academic workloads and rewards (this is available at https://leedsubs.eu.qualtrics.com/CP/File.php?F=F_29lNCl4H9MRpqEB for those that want to look at the information collected from that study).  We would appreciate any help from PhD Students, Faculty and Administrators on the nature and structure of their PhD programs.  As far as we are aware there is no similar set of studies that so comprehensively looks at B-Schools (the prior survey covered > 450 institutions).  So please help if you can and pass the survey link along to others.

    The survey looks at everything from satisfaction to program structure to funding.  Because we have already collected information relating to many aspects of performance we can relate which actions lead to better outcomes.

    Dear Charles,

    If possible, could you please distribute the following benchmarking survey on Post Graduate Research to the IM division?

    Dear members of IMD (apologies for cross-posting)

     

    We would like to ask your help in filling in the linked survey plus also passing it around to PhD students (past and present) and faculty and responsible administrators.  We believe it is unique in both its comprehensiveness and our ability to link it with last year's research incentives and benchmarking study.  Our concentration on current and past students plus existing faculty and administrators allows us to look at the programme benchmarks from a variety of perspectives.

    This survey is aimed at generating a profile of the structure and support that different institutions use to develop research post graduate (PhD, DBA) degree students. All of the answers provided are confidential and will only be released if you give us your permission (which we will request in advance). No single institution will be identified in any report without their express written permission.  

     

    If you wish, we will provide you with a general report and some of the basic statistics with which to do your work or to present within your own institution. You may be interested in an earlier study we conducted looking at faculty incentives and workload.     In answering the questions, please give your best estimate within the constraints of the question (i.e., choose which answer(s) fit best). When asked questions that require a financial answer please given your best estimate in US Dollar equivalents. Please note that some of the questions may appear repetitive but please answer all questions as the context in which the question is being asked matters to its interpretation. If you do not know the answer to a question, simply leave it blank.

     

    Also, please answer all questions with respect to Postgraduate Research (PGR) programmes that lead to a PhD or similar degree. This survey is not focused on Masters programmes except when they link directly to the PhD or other advanced degree.
