    Submissions for the Research Prize 2007/2008 of the University of Applied Sciences (FHDW)

     

    Goal

    Scientific works which make a contribution to a general topic specified by FHDW in the field of business are to be honored with this prize. The general topic for the Research Prize 2007/2008 is: "Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Internationalization in Companies". The goal is to honor outstanding scientific studies and concepts which describe paths towards the achievement of sustainable internationalization. Special consideration will be given to works which deal with one of the following focuses within the general topic:

    - Cooperation models and networks

    - Business models and market entry strategies

    - Influences of culture, values, and ethics

    - Risk management and finance

     

    Prize

    The research prize of FHDW is divided into a first and a second prize. The first prize is € 10,000 and the second prize is € 5,000.

     

    Conditions for Entry

    Graduates from universities, institutes of universities, and company research facilities both in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Germany</st1:place></st1:country-region> and abroad are requested to submit papers. Only teams of researchers are to be admitted. A requirement is that at least one member of the team must be associated with the FHDW.

    The papers submitted should have relevance to the general topic and one of the focuses listed above. Only current research is to be accepted for consideration. This means that no works submitted may have been published from before 31 May 2007.

     

    Documents to be Submitted

    Initially an abstract of up to 5 pages, with copies written in both German and English, is to be submitted which outlines the exact research topic, the results, the methodology used or, if necessary, only the outlines of the research project. In addition, the personal data of the researchers involved is to be submitted (contact data and curriculum vitae).

    After preliminary selection of the abstracts submitted, the various teams of researchers are requested to submit their complete research reports. These reports should be ready for publication, should be no longer than 40 pages, and must be submitted in both German and English.

    Deadlines

    By 01 June 2007       :           submission of the abstract

    By 15 August 2007   :           Information on the preliminary selection of the abstracts

    By 31 May 2008        :           Submission of the research reports

         26 September 2008        :           Prize ceremony

     

    Criteria for Evaluation

    In addition to the required relevance to the topic, relevance to business practice and innovation will be among the criteria used for evaluation. Innovation is understood to mean the innovativeness of the scientific result and the extent of the progress made in the understanding of the topic. The relevance to business practice will be measured against the ability of business to make use of the scientific findings and the relevance of the transfer into the field of business.

     

    Jury

    The preliminary selection and final judging is to be carried out by a jury in a meeting that will be closed to the public. The jury will contain both professors and representatives of companies.

    Notes

    After the Prize has been awarded, the best works submitted will be published in a research volume and presented in a symposium.
