NEW BOOK: The Management of Meaning in Organizations
It has taken millennia but of course finally someone not only found something meaningful in organizations but has set out to discuss the management of it! As the old international pecking order crumbles and skeletons fall out of the academic closets. How come we have all learned to be so exquisitely ignorant about the non-Western giants on whose shoulders we stand? Why did our elites speak Latin and Greek, sometimes Hebrew, but never Arabic? Never Persian? Never Chinese? If we are to counter the return of the religion threatening the impoverished secular state, if we are to argue about acceptable and unacceptable inequalities, a great introduction to this is our Euro-colleague Slawomir Magala's [Rotterdam School of Management] smagala@fbk.eur.nl new book "The Management of Meaning in Organizations" (Palgrave, 2009).
