2017 INDAM Professional Development Workshops: Call for Proposals

The Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) invites scholars from all over the globe interested in research on Indian management to submit Professional Development Workshop (PDW) proposals addressing management challenges and issues faced by Indian organizations, institutions, and larger society that are*:
· Innovative (that experiment with new processes, models, formats, and ideas);
· Interactive (that offer, compare, discuss, test, and evaluate many alternative points of view on topics);
· Inclusive (that accommodate and provide values for all types of participants such as doctoral students, junior faculty, international members, and practitioners);
· Integrative (that bridge and cross-fertilize disciplines, international borders, and levels of analysis);
· Developmental (that allow participants to exploit their physical proximity at the meetings to build networks, to create and strengthen commonalities of understanding, and to clarify common approaches);
· Valuable (that generate value by enriching participants with experiences, tools, thoughts, projects, approaches, methods, relationships, promises, or data that they do not have before the workshop);
· Provocative (that energize participants before, during, and after the annual meeting).
The theme of the 2017 Academy of Management Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA from August 4-8, 2017 is "At the Interface". As we gather in Atlanta in 2017, I would encourage scholars interested in management research on India to think of new and creative ways that Indian businesses, institutions, and organizations can contribute to the larger international community in general and Indian society in particular.
For developing sound and exemplary PDW proposals, organizers may need to act early, expend sufficient effort, contact knowledgeable advisors, and follow good principles of design*. Many PDW proposals are rejected because the PDW chairs receive them too late. Knowledgeable advisors are often generous of their time but may not be available too close to the deadline. Organizers may need to revise their proposals multiple times and seek feedback from their colleagues. Feel free to contact the PDW Chair at profnareshkhatri@gmail.com to get a feedback on your preliminary PDW idea/proposal regarding its merit. Queries/questions regarding your proposals will be promptly responded to. Proposals for sessions organized with other divisions and affiliates of the Academy of Management will be highly appreciated.
