Creating Emerging Markets Project: Thriving in Growth & Turbulence is a workshop aimed to introduce the Creating Emerging Markets data source (https://www.hbs.edu/creating-emerging-markets/Pages/default.aspx) (created by Harvard Business School) to management scholars. CEM has curated a collection of over 115 interviews (mostly on video, approximately each an hour long) with business leaders from more than 20 countries. This PDW will discuss methods and models for how to use this rich resource in both research and teaching, with presentations by senior researchers and faculty with a range of interests who have already integrated CEM content into their own work. The session will include a roundtable component in which participants discuss pre-circulated topics and questions relating to: 1) teaching opportunities, case writing, and curriculum design; 2) research models and methods; and 3) avenues to grow and disseminate the CEM platform.
To facilitate the roundtable discussions, scholars interested in participating in this PDW will be asked to sign up ahead of time and select one of the above discussion topics. Participants will then receive a sample of recently published papers based on the CEM sources, as well as a link to selected full-length CEM videos to aid in their preparation. Participants are asked to bring a brief outline (one paragraph) to the PDW, with ideas for how these videos might be used in teaching and/or research.
