Please excuse cross-postings ... I'm looking for text, cases, or other approaches to introducing a "global strategy" course early in the MBA curriculum. We are moving our full-time MBA capstone strategy course from the final semester in the 2nd year to the second semester of the first year. We hope to focus on industry analysis and international dimensions, and culminate the semester with a major project involving all courses. My challenge is to integrate these courses early on before students have taken them, as well as provide strategy and international business content. I've been asked to see what other Business Schools are doing in this regard. I would very much appreciate any insights, suggestions, or advice you might offer. Thanks in advance ...

I'm going to be guilty of promoting my school . . . but here is a link to search cases distributed by Ivey. http://www1.ivey.ca/cases/ Doing an advanced search, you can select MBA level, General Management (strategy) and use a keyword to find what you need.

You can also browse under Products, then go to Casemate. Here you can find a textbook in strategy which has been matched with 1 or 2 cases per chapter. Even if you are not using one of those textbooks, the chapters of the textbooks may be similar.

    Paul,

I'd be pleased to set your classes up with my simulation. For the demo, click here: http://pages.towson.edu/precha/geonetd5.exe and select Run/Open at all security warnings. Do not save the program, as I upgrade the server regularly. A saved program may not work correctly after an upgrade. Finally, select Setup. When the demo exits, it cleans up after itself, leaving nothing on the computer. You must have Microsoft's .Net Framework installed for the demo to work.

When you get to the Access-to-GEO dialog box, select the Register button. Then register yourself using any fictitious name you like.

    Best,

    Precha
