    Junior Faculty Paper Development Workshop

    BPS Division

Academy of Management Meeting Vancouver, 2015

    Saturday Aug 8th, 8.00 - 10.30 am

Do you have a great paper that seems to be going nowhere? A paper that has been rejected from a journal or two, and you're not sure whether, and how, to proceed? Or a paper that has received contradictory reviews to which you're struggling to respond? Do you have a great empirical result but aren't sure if the theoretical contribution is sufficient for an A-level publication, or what other journals you should be considering? Do you feel your paper could really use some guidance from senior, more experienced faculty?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, this PDW is for you!

Now in its fourth year, the Junior Faculty Paper Development Workshop offers junior scholars a unique opportunity to receive developmental feedback on their current research projects. Specifically, it enables junior faculty who are struggling with papers in an advanced stage to engage in an in-depth discussion with experienced researchers who will read their work and offer guidance on how, and whether, to proceed.

Senior Participants: Nicholas Argyres (Washington U. in St Louis), Russell Coff (U. of Wisconsin), Gary Dushnitsky (London Business School), Martine Haas (U. of Pennsylvania), Glenn Hoetker (Arizona State U.) Anne Marie Knott (Washington U. in St Louis), Dovev Lavie (Technion Israel Institute of Technology), Catherine Maritan (Syracuse U.), Xavier Martin (Tilburg U.), Timothy Rowley (U. of Toronto), Melissa Schilling (New York U.), David Sirmon (U. of Washington), Kevin Steensma (U. of Washington), Ed Zajac (Northwestern U.)

Organizers: Benjamin Hallen (London Business School), Aseem Kaul (University of Minnesota), Thomas Klueter (IESE Business School), and Denisa Mindruta (HEC Paris)

    Eligibility and submission requirements:

The PDW is open to untenured faculty members only. Pre-registration is required. Interested participants should send an application including:

    1.      The most recent version of their research paper
    2.      Any reviews received – including rejection letters and / or friendly feedback
    3.      A cover letter clearly stating the question(s) with which they are struggling

Submission of these materials is a pre-requisite for participating in the PDW. Applications should be sent to bps.paperworkshop@gmail.com. Submission of an application implies availability to participate in the PDW. Deadline for applications is June 7, 2014.

Note that submission of an application does not automatically imply acceptance into the PDW. Applicants will be notified by July 1st whether their applications have been accepted or not.
