Scholarly contributions in the literature suggest that the concept of global mindset represents an important competitive tool for today's managers, whereas cultural intelligence and intercultural competence appear as likewise important. Interestingly, the definitions and approaches offered by various scholars on cultural intelligence as well as a global mindset are not similar despite identical words used. Our advances in scholarship are somewhat confused by the multiplicity of approaches and lacking harmony for theory development as well as empirical field study design. Therefore we suggest confronting various schools of thought, provoking reflection and intellectual challenge in a particularly interactive format. This Professional Development Workshop is designed around a Panel Symposium in a stimulating and interactive way: We suggest a mix of short provocative key-note speeches, scholarly contributions and debate from renowned scholars representing the panel member as well as interaction and discussion with all participants in a collegial round table setting with parallel and plenary sessions. The learning experience shall particularly stem from joint reflection and discussion on the concept of Cultural Intelligence. Beyond the Global Mindset that may be perceived as overlapping with CQ and somewhat fuzzy in their respective definitions with regards to possible differentiations and applications, we also find cross-cultural skills and competence as well as the multicultural personality as related concepts. Since every management research protocol requests rigor, we want to offer a forum to advance international management research towards more collaborative efforts, interaction and innovation on the issues of CQ, the Global Mindset, cross-cultural competence and more. Regarding the highly interactive format of this PDW, we require pre-registration since the number of participants is limited. This shall give all registered participants the best available working conditions to benefit the most from this PDW. Dare to Care The clarification of various elements and concepts in the field of Cultural Intelligence, extending towards the Global Mindset, cross-cultural competence and multicultural personality will be a very useful contribution and show that we care! Pre-registration is required for this workshop. To register online, please visit https://secure.aomonline.org/PDWReg. The deadline to register online is August 4, 2010. | Search Terms: | cross-cultural competence , Cultural Intelligence (CQ) , Global Mindset | |
