    Dear Colleagues,

    We are currently conducting a meta-analysis of the relationship between socio-cultural factors and cross-cultural adaptation. We have already identified a number of published studies, and we are now seeking unpublished data on this topic.

    We would be grateful if you could share with us any unpublished works including:
    - a sample consisting of subjects in international transition (expatriate workers, expatriate spouses, international students, 1st and 1.5 generation migrants, other groups);

    - at least one measure of cross-cultural adaptation, either psychological (e.g, well-being, satisfaction with life, psychological distress, etc.) or socio-cultural (e.g, Socio-cultural Adaptation Scale, acculturation levels, Black and Stephens' general, interaction and work adjustment scales, others);

    - at least one correlate of the latter belonging to one of the following groups:
    • Cultural distance;

    • Social interaction/social support;

    • Family-related factors (e.g., family presence, family adjustment, family characteristics, etc.);

    • Social stressors (e.g., discrimination, language barrier, threats, etc.);

    • Other relevant factors related to sojourner's social and/or cultural environment.

    We are interested in both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. Both reports (e.g., theses, unpublished manuscripts, project reports, protocols) and original data-sets (of published and unpublished studies) are welcome.

    If you prefer to send selected information only, the information that we would need includes at least:

    * the strength of the relationship (preferably a correlation, but other statistics are fine as well);
    * assessment instruments;
    * sample size;
    * type of sample (e.g., students, employees, spouses, migrants, or other);
    * origin and location of the sample (e.g., respondents from the USA sojourning in China);
    * sex composition of sample (% male);
    * average age;
    * average length of sojourn abroad.

    If you do have relevant work, we would be grateful if you could send it by email to Kinga Bierwiaczonek (kinga_bierwiaczonek@iscte.pt). Also, please email us in case of doubts about whether your work is relevant for this meta-analysis or if you have any other question.

    Thank you for your time and for considering our request.

    With kind regards,

    Kinga Bierwiaczonek and Sven Waldzus
