Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you well. I'd like to remind you of the following three events organized by the Chinese Management Scholars Community* (CMSC) that will take place at this year's Academy of Management meeting in Orlando.
1. CMSC-Reunion
We will hold our CMSC Reunion on Saturday, August 10, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the WDW Swan Resort (1500 Epcot Resorts Boulevard, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, 32830), Swan 5. It will consist of two parts:
- In the first half (7:00-8:30 p.m.), Mr. Ruimin Zhang, CEO of the Haier Group, will speak to our community. Brian Xun Wu (wux@umich.edu) of the University of Michigan and I will co-chair and co-moderate this session.
- In the second half (8:30-10:00 p.m.), we will continue our tradition of roundtable discussions related to career-related counseling and experience-sharing. Discussion topics will include research, teaching, dissertations, job search, tenure packages, and so on.
New this year: We will need you to pre-register for the roundtables so that we can better match your interest and career stage with the mentors leading the roundtables. Please go to (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TT3S6X5) to view information about mentors and to register. Please register by July 25. We will contact you to let you know which discussion you will be participating in. Please note that this Alumni Reunion event will be conducted in Chinese.

*The Chinese Management Scholars' Community (CMSC) is an informal, open-platform community that offers career-related services to Chinese (or Chinese-speaking) management scholars. Our community represents a grass-roots, voluntary effort initiated by individuals who are bonded by common interests and values. We are guided by our mission, to pass the baton (傳承), and our core values derive from the "middle" or "zhong" (中) philosophy: integrity, harmony, balance, integration, dynamics, and independence. Founded in 2006 as a small "workshop" for Chinese scholars in strategic management dedicated to the development of well-balanced business academics, the group is now composed of more than 200 members. Our focus is on serving scholars in the macro management area, and we offer the following member-centered programs: 1) CMSC-Workshop; 2) CMSC-Reunion; 3) CMSC-RF (Research Forum); 4) CMSC-TF (Teaching Forum).
**Please note that pre-registration is required. Register online at http://cmscevent.wufoo.eu/forms/registration/ or http://www.mingjerchen.com/publications/cmsc/2013-cmsc-events/registration/ at your earliest convenience. For any logistical questions, please email cmscmail@gmail.com.
I would appreciate it if you could help to spread the word about these upcoming gatherings at the Academy meeting. If you have any suggestions regarding these activities and/or how to further foster our community, please feel free to share them with me, the respective coordinators of each event, or with Tieying or Haibin.
Have a productive and pleasant summer, and I look forward to seeing you in Orlando.
Best wishes,
Ming-Jer Chen
