1.Introduction
In recent decades, ethics has become a crucial element in the business world.
Most business ethicists and business strategists scholars agree that
managerial leadership and hence the resulting competitiveness of firms are
to a significant extent dialectically intertwined and correlated. This study
will-as a preliminary- synthesize the relevant literature, evaluate a
significant number of cases so as to uncover the existing links of
causality between leadership , the ethical dimension of leadership and the
resulting competitiveness of firms. In most cases, we anticipate that firms'
competitiveness is the dependent variable, ethics and leadership being the
independent variables.Ethicists and strategists alike have in fact always
suggested that an ethics-based managerial leadership is conducive to a
sustained and lasting source of competitive advantage. Our conclusions and
recommendations will try to identify the sufficient and necessary sine qua
non conditions that will insure the real meaning of managerial leadership.
