    Emerald Group Publishing Limited invites applications for the position of Associate Editor of the International Journal of Emergency Services.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and focused individual with solid editorial experience to join the Editorial Team of an exciting journal in Emerald's Public Management collection.

    About IJES

    The International Journal of Emergency Services (IJES) provides a platform for the development of scholarship in the management of all emergency services. The journal covers both universal services such as Fire and Rescue, Police, and Ambulance services as well as more specialised services such as the Coastguard, Air-Sea or Mountain Rescue. IJES is interested in the functioning of the emergency services, in the planning, prevention and recovery stages of emergencies and disasters, and in responses and reactions to emergencies. IJES is one of the first journals to cater for a steadily-increasing number of researchers, practitioners and University lecturers focusing on the crucial field of Emergency Management. Indexed by Scopus, IJES' mission is to publish original research and contribute to and lead this expanding field of knowledge. Further details are available at www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/ijes.htm

    The role of Associate Editor

    Emerald is seeking to recruit an engaged and enthusiastic Associate Editor to jointly manage editorial processes for IJES and to guide its development as a scholarly journal.

    The Journal is currently edited by Professor Paresh Wankhade, Edge Hill University UK; the appointed Associate Editor will work alongside Professor Wankhade. The Associate Editor will be jointly responsible for the following:

    ü  Managing the Journal's double blind peer review process, with the assistance of an Editorial Review Board, and delivering appropriate and timely content for two journal issues per volume, according to a pre-determined publication schedule;

    ü  Upholding and developing editorial standards on the Journal and abiding by the publication ethics and principles as described by the Committee on Publication Ethics;

    ü  Engaging the Senior Editorial team and Editorial Advisory Board in the work of the Journal;

    ü  Conducting an annual Editorial Board meeting and regular communications with the Editorial Board;

    ü  Raising the profile of the Journal amongst researchers and practitioners and developing and maintaining a network of contacts to act as advocates for the Journal or sources of copy as appropriate;

    ü  Attending conferences or similar events to promote the Journal and network with potential authors;

    ü  Working with the Journal Publisher (at Emerald) to achieve agreed development objectives for the Journal and to raise its international profile and standing.

    The successful Associate Editor will receive full training and support in the use of our submission platform and comprehensive mentoring on Emerald Processes. The Associate Editor will receive a modest honorarium in lieu of his/her work on the Journal.
