Dear Colleague:
If you are planning to attend the Strategic Management Society's Special Conference on India, December 12-14, 2008, hosted by Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, here is a reminder that the special registration rates end on September 1, 2008. Also, since December is a peak period for travel, and accommodation is difficult to come by, we suggest you make your plans as early as possible. Moreover, in light of the tremendous response to the conference, we may have to cap registration in the future, and therefore would recommend that you register as early as possible.
Hyderabad is easily accessible directly through British Airways, KLM, Qatar, or via Delhi and Mumbai through several other airlines. The conference website (http://india.strategicmanagement.net ), which is open for registration for the conference as well as for the Dean's Conclave, provides necessary information about accommodations, and side tours that may be of interest to you while visiting India.
The conference, which begins on Dec 13th 8.00am and finishes on Dec 14th 5.30pm will bring together over a large number of academics and business executives from India and abroad. Apart from state-of-the-art research paper presentations, we also have several CEO panels discussing topics such as Innovation from India Inc., Globalization of Indian firms, and the Multinational experience in India with respect to R&D and innovation under the stewardship of scholars such as C.K. Prahalad (Univ. of Michigan), Bala Chakravarthy (IMD), Yves Doz (INSEAD), Harbir Singh (Wharton), Jagdish Sheth (Emory) and Tarun Khanna (HBS). There are professional development workshops on Friday, Dec. 12th, targeted for different segments, namely, doctoral students, junior faculty and senior faculty. On Dec. 14th, we have a Dean's panel which is being co-chaired by Tarun Khanna and C.K. Prahalad. Here, we expect to have over 30 heads of business schools in India and a similar number of deans and associate deans from premier institutions outside India engaging in a debate on how to bring in emerging economies into the mainstream of B-school discussions in the West.
All in all, we can promise you an engaging program. Also, you do not need to have an accepted paper to attend the conference.
Meanwhile if you have any questions or need any clarifications, please feel free to email to either of us: Charles Dhanaraj (cdhanaraj@ivey.uwo.ca ) and MB Sarkar (mbsarkar@temple.edu).
