Annual Retreat following the AOM meetings

    Dear AOM Colleagues and friends,

Our 13th MSR (Management, Spirituality and Religion Interest Group of AOM) Retreat following the annual AOM meetings will take place Tuesday evening through Friday noon, August 11-14, 2015 at an exceptionally beautiful Canadian site by both  ocean and forest, Bowen Island Lodge < http://www.bowenislandlodge.ca/ >.  The forest and shorefront allow for reflective walking or quiet discussion with companions with kayaks, bicycles and hot tub available for more active pursuits.  The excellent meals, which have won awards, focus on fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.

In 2002 at our MSR business meeting in Denver there was a strong consensus that our work in matters of spirit requires deepening of the spiritual journey. Further, there was a common discernment that efforts in this sensitive area would be enhanced by a shared retreat where the deepening of spirit was called forth.   We've had a Management and Spirituality Retreat after the AOM annual meeting each year since.

THIS year in 2015 we invite you and your friends, spouses, colleagues to join in our 13th Retreat outside Vancouver following the August AOM meetings.  (MSR membership not required).

Each Retreat has been different and ecumenical -- spiritual and spiritually related management practices from a variety of spiritual and psychological traditions and religions depending on the interests and practices of participants who, if you chose to do so, suggest or lead one or more activities. We've offered a mixture of silence and discussion and addressed issues of both deep personal spiritual importance to participants and related  issues of of teaching and studying management. Friendships have been newly formed (no marriages or partnerships yet as far as we know!), old acquaintances deepened, and new teaching, research and personal practices introduced.  It's been a time of deep relaxation and joy after the annual AOM meetings, for many a period to unwind after the stress and excitement of the meetings.

Because accommodations require reservations and payment, we are urging that you determine early if this spirit-filled, rest and practice opportunity is something you would like to share.  Full cost for 3 nights lodging, space for retreat activities and dining and 3 meals a day, will run $425 US / person in double occupancy rooms (we'll help find a partner if you don't have your own choice) or $625 for single rooms.  This is an official activity of MSR potentially eligible as a reimbursable expense from your institutions or, if not reimbursed, may be potentially deductible for tax purposes for those who itemize. We'll later be asking registrants for their preferences for activities at the retreat and asking if you might wish to lead a session, perhaps related to your own spiritual or religious traditions as well as bringing these perspectives to our teaching and research

For more information and to reserve a space contact us at rperegoy@udallas.edu  or stacie.chappell@wne.edu or simply use the Registration Form following.   Because of the limited space, people will be registered for the Retreat on a "first come, first served" basis upon receipt and payment.

We hope you will carefully consider this opportunity to be with colleagues and friends from AOM in surroundings of natural beauty to share a spirit filled three days in support of our important work on behalf of management education, ourselves and our students.
