Professor of International Business
The Sonoco International Business Department, Darla Moore School of Business, at the University of South Carolina is conducting a search to fill a tenure-track position. Rank is open although the preference is for an experienced candidate. The start date is August, 2010. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
A completed doctoral degree with a specialization in international business is required. A strong disciplinary base is also expected and a specific geographic area of expertise is desirable. We are interested in exceptional scholars, with demonstrated outstanding research and teaching in the area of international business.
The primary vision for the international business department is to take a leading role in the development of high impact theory and research on global business. The department is unified by its interest in understanding the multinational enterprise (MNE) and the institutional context within which the MNE operates. The department includes faculty with diverse disciplinary backgrounds. This combination, a shared focus on the MNE and diverse perspectives, facilitates collaborative efforts to support multidisciplinary, cross-functional, and/or multilevel perspectives. The current faculty in the department are: Nancy Buchan (Wharton), Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (MIT), Randy Folks (Harvard), Omrane Guedhami (Laval), Tatiana Kostova (Minn.), Chuck Kwok (UT-Austin), Gerald McDermott (MIT), Robert Rolfe (OU), Kendall Roth (USC), Martin Roth (Pitt), Andrew Spicer (Wharton), and Annique Un (MIT).
The Darla Moore School of Business is recognized for its innovative international business programs, including an undergraduate international business major, joint undergraduate international business program with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, international master in business administration, master of international business, a global executive program in Guadalajara, Mexico, and an international business major at the doctoral level. For the past 20 years the graduate program in international business has been ranked No. 1 or No. 2. The undergraduate international business program has been ranked No. 1 for twelve consecutive years. Given that the Moore School has adopted strategic themes related to international business and sustainable enterprise and development, candidates whose research and teaching interests lie in these areas will find colleagues with similar interests across the school.
