CONFERENCE ON INTERNATIONAL AND INTERCULTURAL NEGOTIATIONS
The rapid growth of international business activity has meant that many firms are crossing national boundaries to either exploit new opportunities or minimize any potential threats. The rapid growth of trade and investment flows, the growing popularity of joint ventures, acquisitions, and/or strategic alliances, all testify to the growing international interdependence both between firms as well as between nation states. Negotiations take on a growing importance in an increasingly interdependent world. As managers seek to negotiate business deals, resolve disputes, and/or manage their relationship with their counterparts in the host country they are often confronted with differences in cultural norms, ideology, bureaucratic practices, that may pose challenge to their ability to negotiate effectively.
Copenhagen Business School and the University of Nottingham are organizing a conference that seeks to explore some of the major themes in the ever growing area of international/intercultural negotiations. We are looking to explore the state of the art thinking on international/intercultural negotiations that may have implications both for future research and for negotiation practice. Conference is scheduled to be held on April 8- 2010 in Copenhagen. We are inviting theoretical and/or empirically oriented papers that focus on different facets of the international/intercultural negotiating process. We also welcome proposals for interactive workshops.
