Dear Colleagues-members of the AoM International Management Division Membership Involvement Committee (IMD MIC),

I have been asked by the executive committee of our division to spearhead initiatives aimed at re-launching MIC to ensure that it serves the purpose for which it has been created.  Here are a few things that we would like to get your feedback on, possibly before October 30:

The division views MIC as both a liaison with other regional organizations and as an instrument of both promoting the IMD to potential new members and serving current members.  So the ideas that the executive committee of our division had in regards to MIC were to do IMD sponsored sessions at local and regional conferences, hold quasi regional events or activities at AOM conferences, do paper development workshops at local conferences, generate representation of leading IMD members at consortia at local and regional conferences, etc.    For example, we could introduce some sort of mentoring PDWs at both regional events and the main Academy meetings, where we would ask some of our more experienced members to be mentors, so people could sign up to meet with them and get help on paper development, career progress, etc.  There are so many ideas around, but what we really need to do is to identify our main priorities (given our role within the division), assemble a group of dedicated people, and put our best ideas to practice.  Please note that there may be some funding available for ideas that add value in terms of new members.

At this point I would like to hear from those who are interested in (a) continuing to serve and work in the committee, (b) commenting on the ideas above, and (c) contributing other ideas (and actions!) that might be useful to our division.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    Best regards,

    Vlad
