Dear Bonny -
I ran such courses in business for a number of years. My suggestion is
to buy a lot of coloured paper, scissors, balloons, pipe-cleaners,
rubber bands, paper clips, tinsel, blutac (TM, all rights recognised,
etc), glue, selotape (see previous parenthetic remark), drinking straws,
wood, coloured pens, markers, plastic offcuts, swatches of fabric, etc
etc., put your students in an empty room with the materials and leave
them to simmer for 8 hours.
Afterwards, ask them what happened. Go on from there.
best regards
hugh
