ABOUT ABW:
Academic Business World (ABW) sponsors an annual international conference
for the exchange of research ideas and practices within the three domains
listed below (business disciplines, learning, and administration). The aim
of the Academic Business World International Conferences is to provide a
forum for the discussion of research within business and reference
disciplines in education and the social sciences as well as research and
experiences in learning and administration in higher education. We wish to
promote inclusiveness in research by offering a peer-reviewed venue for the
discussion of research in early stages as well as research that may differ
from 'traditional' paradigms. A secondary but important objective of each
conference is to encourage the cross pollination of ideas by bringing
professors from multiple disciplines and backgrounds together for social and
intellectual interaction.
PARTICIPATION:
If you are interested in moderating a session or reviewing submitted papers,
please contact Dr. Edd R. Joyner (Conference Chair) at
eddjoyner@charter.net
PAPERS:
Academic Business World seeks the submission of papers in all of the
following three domains:
BUSINESS DISCIPLINES DOMAIN
Papers in all traditional areas of business (Accounting, Economics, Finance,
Information Systems, Management, Marketing, etc.) as well as any of the
reference disciplines are solicited, with particular emphasis on papers in
early development stages and papers involved with non-traditional paradigms.
LEARNING DOMAIN
Learning oriented papers that describe new or innovative practices in
classroom, laboratory, online, face-to-face, distance learning, or other
learning environments in higher education are encouraged. Manuscripts that
develop a more theoretical focus on teaching/learning are also desired. The
discipline involved (accounting, engineering, art, education, etc) should
not be the main focus, but rather the primary focus should be on the
learning technique/practice.
ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION DOMAIN
Administration oriented papers that focus on new or innovative practices in
the operation of any academic unit in higher education are wanted. Topics
may include: adjunct vs. full-time issues; budget equity with other units;
any accreditation issue; finding good faculty; teaching vs. research issues;
assessing programs, faculty, students; academic freedom issues; and others.
Please do not view this list as exhaustive; papers in all areas of academic
administration are sought.
REVIEW PROCESS:
All papers will be blind reviewed by three or more peer reviewers. In
support of our stated goal of inclusiveness, the targeted acceptance rate is
75-80 percent. Authors will normally be notified of the status of their
papers within 2-weeks of submission. Accepted articles will be published in
the refereed conference proceedings.
ABSTRACTS AND PRESENTATION OUTLINES:
While only full papers are eligible for publications in the Journals listed
below, Abstracts and Presentation Outlines are welcome for presentation at
the conference.
JOURNALS ASSOCIATED WITH ABW:
The best papers, as rated by reviewers, will be published (subject to
possible revision to meet publication standards) in one of the following
journals:
International Journal of the Academic Business World (IJABW). IJABW is a
peer-reviewed journal in it's first year of publication and has been
accepted for listing in a forthcoming Cabell's directory of publishing
opportunities.
