The new European Journal of International
Management is soliciting contribution of
English summaries of articles published in
languages other than English. See below:
Research summaries
EJIM publishes a regular section that includes a synopsis of important findings from articles appearing in any
relevant non-English journals in
Europe, Asia, South America, etc. Summaries can be written both by the original
authors and by other academics mastering the language in question. The benefits of this feature are threefold:
it is a great opportunity for English-language authors to get familiarised with leading research topics worldwide;
it is a good chance for the young and/or unknown scholars from many non-English speaking countries to
have a media outlet where they can showcase their latest findings in a relevant area of knowledge;
it is a good opportunity for both PhD students and academics to form a bridge between their native-language
research community and the English-speaking research community.
Requirements
The articles to be summarised should deal with issues that fall under the general aims and scope of EJIM.
The summaries should not be longer than 750 words and should include full details (including author contact
details) of the original article, so readers can easily contact the original author for a full copy of the paper.
Authors can choose to summarise several articles dealing with the same topic in a longer summary (up to
1500 words).
The summaries should provide an overview of the article’s research question(s), methodology and main results
as well as an indication of how its results are relevant to a broader audience. If the original article does
not provide information on this broader relevance, authors of the summary are welcome to give their own
views on this.
Submission procedures
Summaries should be submitted to the section editor, Associate Professor Anne-Wil Harzing, preferably by email.
Contact details follow at the end of this call. Please provide as the subject of your email EJIM Research Summary.
Summaries should follow the normal submission guidelines, except for page length and abstract (not necessary).
Biographical notes should be kept to a maximum of 50 words.
Authors are welcome to contact the section editor in advance if they are unsure whether a particular article
summary would fit with EJIM’s aims and mission.
Summaries will be evaluated by the section editor, who might consult with the (regional) editors. They will
not be subject to a normal review process.
