    Dear OCIS and IMD colleagues,

    Please find below a Call for Papers that may be of interest to you. The
    first International Workshop on Intercultural Collaboration will be held
    at Kyoto University, Japan, Jan. 25-27, 2007. The main theme of the
    workshop is intercultural collaboration, from both technical and
    socio-cultural perspectives. Topics will include collaboration suport
    (such as natural language processing, Web, and Internet technologies),
    social psychological analyses of cultural interaction, and case studies
    from activists working to increase mutual understanding in our
    multicultural world.

    The workshop will feature the following invited speakers:

    Christiane D. Fellbaum (Department of Psychology, Princeton)
    Yumiko Mori (NPO Pangaea)
    Gary Olson (School of Information, University of Michigan)
    Wolfgang Wahlster (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence)

    Papers, panels, and demonstrations and poster submissions are invited.
    The deadline for submission of abstracts is Sept. 1, 2006 The deadline
    for papers, panels, posters and demonstrations is Sept. 15. Author
    notification will be sent by Nov. 1. The deadline for camera ready
    papers is Dec. 1 and the deadline for camera ready post-proceedings
    papers is March 1, 2007.

    Examples of suitable paper topics include:

    Field studies of intercultural teamwork
    Cases of intercultural collaboration using IT
    Computer supported intercultural colalboration
    Internet and web technologies for intercultural collaboration
    Multilingual dictionaries and translations
    Multilingual NLP web services
    Standardization issues on resources and tools for multilingual processing
    Usability of multilingual resources and the Language Grid.

    Individuals may submit proposals for panels of three or four talks on a
    related theme in intercultural communication. Panelists may discuss
    previously published work.

    Individuals may submit proposals to present demonstrations and posters
    during the workshop. Demonstration proposals should clearly describe
    the motivation for the tool and how it will be demonstrated at the
    workshop. Demonstration and posts can include previously published work
    and work that is not yet ready for publication.
