    Abstract of Symposium
The overwhelming majority of scholars working in the area of international business management agree that defining and characterizing the field remains a rather challenging task.  According to one of the foremost authorities in the area of international business, Professor John Dunning, the field is undergoing major changes thanks to several important factors.  Among these factors are the advent and impact of globalization on all the aspects of the business environment, the widening of economic and social objectives of both individuals and organizations, the challenges of an uncertain human environment, etc.
To continue this discourse, the organizers of this symposium invited several leading experts in various areas of international management to reflect on their perspectives pertaining to the development of the field and the challenges that scholars and practitioners alike have to face nowadays.  The topics of discussion include prevailing IM research and its critique, integration of multi-disciplinary knowledge and qualitative approaches, globalization trends and their impact on IM in general and international HR management in particular, cross-cultural studies and their political consequences, European perspective on international management research and education, and challenges that are faced by scholars venturing into the field of European international management.
The main objective of this symposium is to discuss latest trends and challenges in the international management research and engage both panelists and the audience in the exciting dialogue about the present and the future of the field.
