Dear colleague,
In an effort to promote the field of strategic management in Israel, build a community of Israeli scholars in this field, and contribute to knowledge exchange and networking, we are proud to announce the 1st Israel Strategy Conference (ISC) to be held in Jerusalem, Israel, on December 24-25, 2007.
The conference website (http://www.isc.org.il/) will be available and open for submissions in mid April, 2007. In the meanwhile, we encourage you to forward this call to your colleagues who may be interested in participating in this conference. Please note that the deadline for submissions is June 1st, 2007.
ISC Call for Papers
The 1st Israel Strategy Conference, sponsored by the Asper Center for Entrepreneurship at the Hebrew University, offers you a unique opportunity to present your innovative ideas and to explore recent developments, emerging issues, and trends in strategic management, as well as receive feedback on your work-in-progress and network with colleagues from our field. We therefore invite all individuals who engage in strategy research to submit paper proposals relating to their ongoing research for possible presentation at the conference.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):
- Strategy formulation and implementation
- Strategic planning and decision processes
- Managing risk and uncertainty
- Strategic control and reward systems
- Resource development and allocation
- Knowledge management
- Internationalization and multinational corporations
- Strategic alliances and networks
- Diversification and portfolio strategies
- Competitive strategy
- Selection and behavior of general managers
- Corporate venturing and entrepreneurship
- Corporate governance
Submission guidelines:
The ISC will consider unpublished original paper proposals relating to the above topics of interest. In the blind review process, the advisory committee and co-organizers will assess submissions, seeking high-quality, rigorous, yet accessible research that targets academic journals. International and global perspectives are encouraged. Submissions can be theoretical and/or empirical, quantitative or qualitative in nature.
The deadline for online submissions of paper proposals is June 1st, 2007.
Paper proposals, written in English, should clearly identify the research questions and the proposed/actual methodology used. If available, the main results, implications, and contributions should also be briefly discussed. Paper proposals are limited to 2 pages of text and 1 additional page of references. Use double spacing with 1-inch margins all around and a font size no smaller than 11 pt. The title of your paper must be included in the header of the proposal and should exactly match the title provided in the online submission form. Please do not include any author identifying information in the proposal. To submit the paper proposal, upload your proposal, in a Word or PDF file format, to the Submissions Section of the ISC website at: http://www.isc.org.il/ where additional guidelines will be provided. As part of the submission process you will be required to enter your contact details and affiliation, list your co-authors, and select a topic that best applies to your paper. Submitting authors must be available to present their papers anytime during the conference.
The Submission Section of the ISC website will be available in early April, 2007. Notices to authors will be sent in early July, 2007, indicating whether the proposed paper has been selected for inclusion in the conference program. Upon acceptance of the paper proposal, authors will be asked to submit a full-length paper no later than November 1st, 2007. Submitted papers should be no longer than 30 pages of text and may include up to 5 additional pages of references. Full-length paper submissions, written in English, should follow the submitted paper style of the Academy of Management Conference and indicate author names, affiliations, and contact details of the presenting author who submitted the paper. Presenting authors must register to the conference by November 1st, 2007. The conference program, with detailed schedule of events and presentations, will be released in early November, 2007.
Conference format:
Each author whose paper is accepted for presentation will be given 20 minutes to present his or her paper. Following the presentations, designated reviewers who have been asked to carefully review the papers in advance will present their main comments, emphasizing ways to strengthen the papers and get them ready for publication. This will be followed by general questions and comments from the audience.
