    Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) , recognized by NAFSA: Association of International Educators as one of 13 U.S. institutions making innovative, wide-ranging efforts to integrate global  approaches to teaching into campus learning, is hosting an academic and business conference to coincide with its 2007 China Semester.(http://www.mssu.edu/international/) The theme of the conference will be “China: Blending Tradition and Innovation",  and will focus on the linkages between China’s historical, social and cultural past  and its current business practices.  The conference will close with a concert by internationally renowned pipa (Chinese Lute) virtuoso Wu Man ( http://www.wumanpipa.org/).

     

    We invite proposals for papers or panels (in English) that address <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">China</st1:country-region></st1:place> as a global business nexus and that discuss the country's history and its impact on business structures.

     

    ·         To propose an individual paper, please submit a 250 - 500 word abstract. 

    ·         To propose a panel, please offer a 1500 word summation, detailing the focus of the panel, a listing of panelists and their paper topics, and a brief explanation of how each paper fits into the overall focus of the panel.

     

    Topics and panels with an interdisciplinary focus are particularly welcome as are qualitative and quantitative approaches. However, other topics of interest may include (but not be limited to) <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">China</st1:place></st1:country-region>’s:

     

    • commercial sector and economic influence on the world
    • evolving marketing model analyzed through case studies, consumer behaviors, policy, and trade
    • culture and history and the impact on current business practices
    • global supply chain
    • commercial growth and impact on environment
    • potential for the global classroom
    • social responsibility and ethics

    REVIEW PROCESS:

    All papers will undergo a blind review process by three or more peer reviewers. In support of our stated goal of inclusiveness, the targeted acceptance rate is 75-80 percent. Authors will normally be notified of the status of their papers within 2-weeks of submission. Accepted articles will be published in the refereed conference proceedings.
