The third "The Power of Richness: Qualitative Research" PDW at the Academy meetings will feature 3 types of HANDS ON, INTERACTIVE sessions in addition to the panel session by distinguished scholars.  This year the
focus is on how to craft qualitative research papers, and the list of people on
    the program has greatly expanded.

At the beginning (from 1pm to 3 pm) we have again a great panel (Stephen Barley, Stanford University; John Van
Maanen, MIT; Andrew Hargadon, UC Davis; Bill McKelvey; UCLA) who will share their views on how to craft qualitative research.

Then from 3-5 pm many of our past panelists plus many more will join us for interactive sessions to address in more detail issues raised in past years.

These interactive session will take one of three forms:

    1) working paper feedback--a golden opportunity to get working paper feedback from
seasoned scholars before submitting your paper to a journal. Jean Bartunke, Diana Day, Kimberly D Elsbach, C. Marlena Fiol, Mariann Jelinek, Candace Jones, Mitchell P Koza, Chet Miller, J. Peter Murmann, Michael Pratt, Christine Quinn-Trank, and Nicolaj Siggelkow will be the discussants.

    2) tutorials by Karen D Locke, College of William and Mary; Mauro Guillen,
Wharton; Klaus Weber, Kellogg; and Mark Zbaracki, New York University.

    3) conversations with editors of leading journals (Linda Argote and Deborah Dougherty, Organization
Science; Sara Rynes, AMJ;  Edward Zajac, SMJ; and John Wagner, ASQ) on how to get qualitative research published.

If you would like to get feedback on your paper, please send it to Diana Day (
    dlday@camden.rutgers.edu) by July
    13.  Papers will be selected on a first come, first get accepted basis until we have filled all available slots.

More details on the schedule for the entire program and description of the
tutorials and the list of seasoned scholars who have volunteered to
give you feedback on your paper can be found at:

We hope to see many of you again as well as many new faces in Philadelphia.

    Best wishes,

Diana Day & J. Peter Murmann
