  • 1.  Study abroad Trip survey

    Posted 05-31-2007 19:37

    Dear Colleagues,

I apologize for any cross-listing of my request. I am part of a PDW this August at the Academy of Management concerning study abroad trips and would like to find those who have conducted these trips and learn about their experiences. The responses will be compiled and presented at the PDW Sunday morning. Below is the link to the survey on the Survey Monkey site. If the link does not work when you click on it, please copy and paste it in your browser's address section. I have had 99 responses thus far, but unfortunately the survey closed early due to my inexperience with Survey Monkey. A potential respondent alerted me to this problem.

I really do appreciate those of you who have already taken the time to complete this survey and I apologize to those who were unable to access it. I hope you will try again and feel free to share it with colleagues in the other business disciplines (e.g. marketing). The survey is open through June 30th. If you do not plan to attend the conference, please send me an email at dfrancis2@yahoo.com and I will send you the results when they are available. Please note that non-U.S. respondents are encouraged. It will be interesting to see the differences in administration and content of these trips.

In addition I would like to invite anyone who will attending the AOM meeting to participate in our workshop, "The World as a Classroom", on Sunday morning, August 5th, from 10-11:30am in room 305 of the Philadelphia Marriott. There will be a couple of presentations by people who have led students at various levels on study trips, but the session will be interactive. We will be encouraging participants who have led these trips to share their experiences (in a structured format), as well as, encouraging questions and discussion.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

    Dear Deborah,
I am very interested in the PDW that you are organizing, and in particular with the experience accumulated on study Abroad Trips.
I may start such a trip next year and would like to learn from the experience of others.
What I have done that might interest you is that I run a multi-cultural team project of MBA students participating in parallel course in 5 countries - USA, HK, Korea, Spain or Italy  and Israel.
These students work together for 4 weeks on a project that requires the preparation of guidelines to an expatriate who is going to be posted in a country that they choose, which should be different than their own countries.
They have to prepare a 12 slide presentations with guidelines, and also with analyses of the challenges that an expatriate from their own countries might face when going there.

I attach a short description of the project, with a website we use for allowing communication among the team members.

If this interests you I can present it in the PDW.

    Please, let me know,
