    The Department of International Business (School of Business) at the George Washington University invites applications for a tenured/tenure track (open rank) position in International Business beginning academic year 2008-2009.  

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS

    We are seeking applicants to teach a range of International Business (IB) courses in our undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral programs, as well as conduct high-quality IB research. 

     

    Basic Qualifications:  Applicants must complete all degree requirements for a doctorate by August 15, 2008, to be appointed at a rank of assistant professor or higher.  ABDs will be considered, and if hired, will initially receive a conditional appointment at the rank of Instructor, but the doctorate must be completed by the end of the first academic year of appointment.

     

    To be appointed at the assistant professor level, applicants must have a demonstrated commitment and ability/potential to conduct high-quality scholarly research publishable in top outlets on topics important to International Business, as evidenced by publications in scholarly journals or scholarly works-in-progress or recommendations by respected scholars as research references.   Applicants must also demonstrate teaching excellence as indicated by teaching letters of recommendation or teaching assessments.

     

    To be appointed at the associate or full professor level, applicants must have a strong record of publishing articles on international business topics in top outlets, with publication expectations commensurate with the applicant's experience.   Applicants must also show demonstrated teaching excellence as indicated by teaching assessments or teaching letters of recommendation.

     

    Qualifications:  Successful applicants will have an ability and desire to work effectively with a diverse community, as well as excellent communication skills.   To be appointed at associate or full professor ranks, applicants should also show a strong record of service to their university and/or the academic community.   The George Washington University and the IB Department seek to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber.

    The GW IB department is one of the few freestanding IB departments in the US, with 12 full time faculty members.  US News and World Report ranked GW's Undergraduate program in International Business in the top 20 in 2007.   GW was also recently awarded a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), providing extensive resources for international business research, teaching, and outreach on our campus and beyond.
