    The aim of this conference is to inform the public and interested academics alike about the research in these fields as well as about the specific and practical output of the inquiry into intercultural communication and global learning challenges. Academics and practitioners around the world are invited to submit papers and contribute their research and expertise to a better understanding of global learning environments and related intercultural communication competence development.
     

    KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

    Dr. Adair Nagata - Rikkyo University, Japan
    Dr. Nagata is Professor of Intercultural Communication at the Graduate School of Intercultural Communication at Rikkyo University in Tokyo, Japan. She also teaches at the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies at Waseda University and has taught at International Christian University (Tokyo), Tsuda College (Tokyo), and the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication (Portland, OR). After careers in international education and corporate training, communication, and organizational development in a global financial services company, she earned her Ph.D. in Human Development from the Fielding Graduate Institute (Santa Barbara, CA).
     
    Dr. N. S. Anuradha - Indian Institute of Science, India
    Dr. Anuradha is Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies in the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore, India and specializes in German within the Foreign Languages Section.  Her research focus is on German language learning and German-Indian linguistic and intercultural relations.  She has participated in several international projects concerned with intercultural communication competence with colleagues at universities in Germany and Austria.  Her work has resulted in numerous journal papers and book chapters and she is co-editor of three upcoming titles on culture and learning.

    No more than 1000 words.

    All papers that are accepted will be published on a CD-ROM with an ISBN

    Selected papers will be included in the edited book

    to be published by Macmillan.

    PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS – May 21st, 2008

    Shuttles will be provided for workshop attendees to attend pre-conference workshops in the educational technology laboratories on the Wichita State University campus.  There will be 3-hour morning and 3-hour afternoon workshops as well as scope for all-day workshops.  The educational technology facilities will include computers, wireless Internet, projectors and other equipment can be arranged.


    CONFERENCE VENUE

    The conference will be held at the Marriott Hotel, located near the north west corner of Kellogg and Webb Rds. in Wichita.  
     

    POSTER SESSIONS

    Poster sessions will be run during in parallel with papers.  Tables, poster boards, and power outlets will be available.  Other facilities can be negotiated as needed.
     

    TRADE EXHIBITION

    Universities, publishers, hardware and software companies and consultants in the area of intercultural communication are invited to mount exhibits during the full duration of the conference.
     

    ACCOMMODATION

    The official hotel for accommodation for ICCC5 is the Wichita Marriott Hotel (http://www.marriott.com/ictwe/) , which is conveniently located near the north west corner of Kellogg and Webb Rds in Wichita.  When reserving your room, use the code "WSU" for the special conference rate of $99.

    Airline

    The official airline for ICCC5 is American Airlines, which is part of the One World Alliance.
     
    Wichita Mid-Continent Airport

    Wichita is served by the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (code: ICT).  It connects to International hubs in Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, Memphis, Houston, Phoenix and Atlanta airports. There are regular flights throughout the day, every day.
     
    Ground Transport

    The Marriott Hotel provides hourly shuttles to and from the airport.  These can be arranged directly with the Marriott or by courtesy phone at the time of arrival.  The Marriott is about 20 minutes from the airport.  The Marriott also provides shuttle transport to local shopping centers and points of interest.
