NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS APPOINTS PROFESSOR RAVI RAMAMURTI AS
DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Boston, MA-June 26, 2008-Northeastern University's College of Business Administration today announced that Professor Ravi Ramamurti has been appointed as the College of Business Administration's first Distinguished Professor of International Business.
Professor Ramamurti received his DBA from Harvard University and his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, where he graduated first in his class. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard Business School, U.S.; ESC-Reims, France; MIT's Sloan School, U.S.; IMD, Switzerland; CEIBS, China; The Fletcher School, Tufts University, U.S.; and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, U.S.
Ramamurti's research focuses on strategy and business-government relations in emerging economies. He served as an advisor to the United Nations on the World Investment Report 2008 and has consulted with firms, international agencies and governments in more than a dozen emerging markets. Professor Ramamurti founded and directs the College's Center for Emerging Markets. In June 2007 he organized a conference at Northeastern University with The Wharton School that resulted in the book Emerging Multinationals from Emerging Markets, Cambridge University Press, 2008.
Ramamurti was recently elected as Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB). He has served as Chair of the International Management division of the Academy of Management.
"Ravi's research is central to the mission and strategy of the College. I am pleased that he is being recognized as the College's first Distinguished Professor," said Thomas E. Moore, dean of the College of Business Administration.
