    Dear Colleagues:

If you are attending the AIB Milan conference, you may find the following panel session on OPEN INNOVATION of interest. The panel features a presentation by a senior executive from a pioneering company in the open innovation domain, innocentive.com, in addition to scholarly perspectives.

    Tuesday, July 1, 2008
    12:05 – 13:20 p.m.
    Room N.2-5
    Session 1.3.14 – Panel

Innovation and Globalization: Looking Outward and Looking Inward
Chair: Vinod K. Jain, University of Maryland

Open Innovation, originally applied to solving R&D problems, corporate venturing, and new business development, has since been applied to many different fields. Companies have been disaggregating their R&D activities and distributing innovation processes to offshore sites, strategic partners, and global networks. And, scholars are now beginning to understand the scope and applications of Open Innovation. This innovative panel will explore issues related to "open innovation" from both scholarly and practitioner perspectives and highlight the need to integrate Open Innovation into the mainstream scholarly thinking and research in business and management.

    Panelists:
Vinod K. Jain, University of Maryland
    Satish Nambisan, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
    Alexander Orlando, InnoCentive Inc.

    Vinod K. Jain, Ph.D.
