(Pre-Conference of Workshops: November 3 – 4, 2008)

Submission deadline extended to July 15

The Asian Chapter of the Academy of HRD (the top global scholarly organization in the field of HRD) cordially invites papers for its 7th International Conference to be held from November 3-6, 2008. The conference will be hosted by the School of Human Resource Development, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Bangkok, Thailand. The goal of the conference is to bring together scholars and practitioners in the field of HRD (and its relevant disciplines, such as HRM, education, business management, public administration, economics, sociology, psychology, and others). It will also be an effective platform for networking and professional interactions among HRD scholars and practitioners from around the globe.

Based on the six successful Asian HRD Conferences (held in India – 2002, Thailand – 2003, Korea – 2004, Taiwan – 2005, Malaysia – 2006, and the People's Republic of China - 2007), the participants of this seventh conference are expected to come from all over Asia, as well as from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Europe. The theme of this year's conference is: Ethics and Quality of Work Life for Sustainable Development. The term, "sustainable development,". HR practices in Ethics and Quality of Work Life have been of interest in the Thai society due to the King's philosophy of efficiency economy that offers a way to sustain a company by balancing stakeholder benefits. This philosophy is reflected by HRD in terms of theoretical framework and context of practice. Thus,, nothing can stop HRD from growing in terms of its global paradigms and perspectives. The consequence of pervasiveness and dynamism is changing in HRD. It is, therefore, inevitable that everyone in HRD should be committed to face challenges as a result of globalization and fast intrusion of technology, as well as the need to unleash human expertise coming from the demand for HRD to work better, faster, and economical. The focus of HRD, particularly in Thailand and elsewhere in the world, is in developing human resources in organizations and communities.
