    Dear INB Colleagues,

     

    The INB dept at Rollins is considering some possible international business related certifications. Does any of the schools have experience with certifications? If so, which ones and what was your experience? Thanks, Ilan

    Dear Dr Alon - I am currently revamping the Int Business Program at NJCU and will share my thoughts with you as I conduct research.  I am also considering a certificate in the topic.  Plans are to have a proposal by Spring 2014 - a bit aggressive but again I will keep you informed.

    Dear Dr. Alon,

    In the international business there is only one certification/designation - professionally speaking - called differently in Canada, US and EU, yet they are all granted by the same organization - FITT. In Canada the designation carries the CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) name, while in the US/EU it is best known as FIBP (FITT International Business Professional); Asia/Middle East have accepted either of the two with both names being used. The program includes several stages during which students receive a diploma, a certificate (marking the completion of 5-9 courses, at least one of which is a written assessment submitted as part of the course project to FITT for grading) and after a 1 year of experience the designation CITP/FIBP.     FITT is now also in discussion to merge with EDC, as EDC (stands for Economic Development Canada) does sponsor a certificate also, yet it is mostly academic with no professional implication. The relationship with FITT has been quite successful for us here and there are quite a few universities participating.
