    Dear Colleagues,

    You are cordially invited to:

    Talent Management: Integrating Regional Perspectives

PDW Symposium at the Academy of Management Meeting, Orlando, FL
    Date: Saturday, August 10, 2013
    Time: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Location: WDW Dolphin Resort, Room Oceanic 5

    Abstract

Talent Management (TM), or as it is sometimes known, Global Talent Management (GTM), has become a key focus for academic research in recent years. As with the emergence of the topic in the practitioner literature in the early 2000s, academic development of the field has been led by North American scholarship. While this scholarship has advanced our understanding considerably and provides an important base for academic enquiry, as the area of study matures the integration of different international perspectives is important in moving our understanding of GTM forward. This PDW will bring a number of leading scholars together to consider the topic of TM from different international perspectives including those of Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and North America. This PDW will build a dialogue around the universality of perspectives of GTM and introduce key regional nuances to the debate around the nature of GTM in practice. It will advance our understanding of GTM in important ways and highlight important questions and boundaries around the study of TM in an international context. It also aligns with the program's theme in unpacking how differing economic systems impact on management systems and processes in differing regions of the world and move debates on TM beyond a narrow North American conceptualization of the area.
