Some years ago I read a journal article or an excerpt from a book describing a study of a situation where work groups in different cultures were assigned goals that were obviously unachievable, and observed and reported the reactions of the work groups, which ranged from ignoring the goals and working as usual, frantically increasing output to attempt to come as close as possible, reducing level of work performance, and others. I have diligently searched Google and Google scholar for a couple of hours and cannot locate the source. Does anyone have a reference or a clue as to where to search next?
Thanks,
Romie
