APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
Dear All:
We invite you to join the conversation at our AOM (Showcase) symposium, sponsored by IM and ENT divisions, in San Antonio entitled, "DIASPORA INVESTMENT & ENTREPRENEURSHIP: THE ROLE OF PEOPLE, THEIR MOVEMENTS, AND CAPITAL IN THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMY" tentatively scheduled for Monday, Aug 15 2011 from 9:45AM to 11:15AM in Room 210 B of the San Antonio Convention Center.
This Symposium is the second in a series of events that started with a Caucus at AOM 2010 designed to be a teaser and precursor to the upcoming 12th Annual International Business Research Forum organized by the Fox School at Temple University in October 2011 and an accompanying Special Issue of the Journal of International Management, guest edited by the Symposium organizers. The call for papers for this conference and special issue are attached.
In this Symposium we aim to further develop the network of scholars interested in or already engaged in research in this area. We have gathered a great group of experts in the field who can address the theme from different perspectives:
Mary Yoko Brannen, INSEAD
Joseph P. Eshun, East Stroudsburg University
Kate Gillespie, University of Texas at Austin
Tarun Khanna, Harvard University
Paul Vaaler, University of Minnesota
Topics include: Impact of Diaspora Networks on Diaspora Investment and Entrepreneurship, Diaspora Investment Motivation, The Process of Diaspora Investment and Entrepreneurship, Diasporas and Multinational Enterprises, Impact of Diaspora Investment and Entrepreneurship, Diasporas and Government Policy
Please note that these are independent events and given the timeline you can certainly submit a paper without attending AOM.
We look forward to seeing you in San Antonio and your submissions to IBRF/ JIM!
Best regards,
Mike Kotabe, Temple University
Liesl Riddle, George Washington University
Florian Taube, EBS Business School
Petra Sonderegger, Indian School of Business
