Transnational Corporations Review (TNCR) deeply mourns passing of our highly respected founding adviser Olinor (Lin) Ostrom

Nobel Prize in Economics recipient Dr. Olinor (Lin) Ostrom, 78, died of cancer early Tuesday morning at IU Bloomington Hospital surrounded by friends. Since its establishment, the publishing of TNCR, advised by Lin, has intensively contributed to international and institutional studies. As a great mentor, Lin advised us that social and economic scientists must develop a number of tools for analyzing changes, particularly those of institutions. Lin and her husband Vincent Ostrom examine these changes in the context of the analysis of micro-and macro-institutions. Their understanding of institutional change convinced that any general theory cannot be developed until the processes of change in multiple specific settings are understood. To sincerely appreciate for Lin's outstanding scholarship and her invaluable advice to TNCR (including two special issues 2010 No.1 and No.2), the TNCR will continue to actively support studies that the Ostroms and their colleagues successfully integrate, what they learned from specific institutions into a more general theory for understanding institutional changes and development.
