    Apologies for cross-posting

    Dear Colleagues,

Please join us to discuss your own research!

I would like to invite you to a PDW entitled "Innovation and Strategy in the Global Automotive Industry" on Friday, August 3rd, 8:00am -11:00am, at the Boston Hynes Convention Center, Room 308 sponsored by IM, BPS and OM and suited for participants from many other disciplinary backgrounds.

This PDW is designed to facilitate interaction among Academy members interested in the global(ization of) automotive industry as well as a dialogue with practitioners. Thus, it brings together experts on different established and emerging automotive markets with representatives from an innovative engine technology firm exemplifying new forms of collaboration. In particular we aim to trigger discussions about how organizations and institutions hailing from different geographies and sectors are becoming increasingly connected and interdependent.

We have presentations from Ram Mudambi (Temple U.), Roger Moser (U. of St. Gallen) and Eric Thun (Said Business School) on automotive industries in India and China, Gerald McDermott (U. of South Carolina) and Ronaldo Parente (Florida International U.) on Latin American automotive industries, as well as a voice from industry by Salvatore Scuderi (The Scuderi Group).

The PDW is divided in two main parts: Firstly, the PDW will feature presentations by researchers working on global automotive industries around the world to stimulate discussion. Secondly, the PDW will provide a forum where participants can discuss their own research in roundtables facilitated by the panelist

The goal of the PDW is to stimulate new, potentially interdisciplinary and international collaborative research projects, much along the lines of new forms of collaboration witnessed in the industry facilitated by international research networks such as IMVP. We are currently talking with a leading international journal to guest edit a special issue on this topic and have been approached by a major publisher to guest edit a Handbook. Therefore, the PDW also intends to scan for potential contributions to these two publications.

This PDW builds on a symposium and site visit to South-West Research Institute (SwRI) during AOM 2011 in San Antonio.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday.

    Cheers,

    Florian
