WAKE UP CALL FROM BRAZIL: PDW 15780 Strategic Management and Emerging Economies 1st AOM day 1st hour
Friday, Aug 3rd. 8am at Marriott Boston Copley Place in Salon D
Following up our successful PDW at San Antonio in 2011, we are pleased to invite you to PDW 15780. In this workshop we engage the rising interest of Anglo-American academics and institutions with the development of strategic management knowledge which fits the institutional particularities of emerging economies, as if there were no knowledges and knowers in/from the "world out there", by bringing to Boston senior people from three important Brazilian organizations to talk with academics and practitioners from diverse parts of the world about strategy practices, knowledges and challenges.
The three organizations featuring will be: Petrobras, state-based oil giant top 10 in the world; BNDES, state development bank, top 4 in the world according to UNCTAD; Gerdau, a family company, nr 2 steel company in the world, and the most internationalized Brazilian group. To talk with them we bring together academics who have been addressing management and strategy from different critical perspectives and engaging emerging economies 'otherwise' - i.e., by challenging the historical engagement of strategic management with universality, at the expense of the many possibilities conveyed by pluriversality and multipolarity for the construction of a world in which many worlds and strategy knowledges can coexist.
