The flow pattern gets more complicated and polycentric too, as scholars move between and live in many difference places. Informal networks play a vital part in helping scholars gain access to critical information and personnel overseas, when formal career channels are often missing between academies of different countries. This proposed PDW will bring together scholars working in or interested to work in non-native societies, and discuss how to use informal networks to advance their careers in alien environments. The workshop is not intended for doctoral students who plan to stay in their countries of studies, since they are already embedded in the local academic networks. Instead, the workshop targets at those who are heading for the unknown. | Search Terms: | informal networks , global career , polycentrism |
