Professional Development Workshop (PDW)
on Language in International Management
Wilhelm Barner-Rasmussen (Hanken School of Economics), Sachiko Yamao (University of Melbourne) and Helene Tenzer (Tuebingen University) cordially invite you to participate in the upcoming PDW on Language in International Management at the Academy of Management annual meeting in Boston.
This PDW aims to provide participants with a better understanding of the empirical, theoretical and methodological challenges posed by language differences in international management and offer opportunities to explore future research directions. This topic is a key challenge to international management theory and firm performance, as evidenced most recently by the call for papers in Journal of International Business Studies (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jibs/cfp_language_si.html).
The PDW is sponsored by International Management Division and will take place at Boston Hynes Convention Center in Room 205 on Friday, Aug 3 2012, 8:00AM - 11:00AM.
The PDW will be comprised of a keynote speech by Professor Rebecca Piekkari (Aalto University) in providing an overview of the field of research, followed by two presentations by Professor Anne-Wil Harzing (University of Melbourne) and Dr Helene Tenzer (Tuebingen University) in providing examples of current research in the field. We will also organize a roundtable discussion session in which participants will have opportunities to share their research interests, compare findings, and discuss challenges and opportunities of exploring the role of language in international management.
Thank you very much for your attention. We hope to see you at the PDW.
With best wishes,
Wilhelm Barner-Rasmussen, Hanken School of Economics, Finland
Sachiko Yamao, University of Melbourne, Australia
Helene Tenzer, Tuebingen University, Germany
